All about Echo Base Records

Welcome to Echo Base Records home to the bands Spa, Cuz and Audiac. You can purchase all our Audiac, Spa and Cuz cds directly from the store.

We specialise in bringing the finest new indie bands in the world. To celebrate our launch we bring you two of our finest bands debut releases. Spa's debut album has been years in the making, but has been well worth the wait - finally we get to hear Yale, Neil of Diamonds and Beautiful Punk in all their hifi glory. Recorded in New Zealand at York St and Arch Hill, the album showcases Kiwilands strongest songwriters since its early Flying Nun heydays in the 80's. Londoner's and expats will be familiar with Spa's storming shows from '98 to 2001 and their unique parties that were 'the social events' of their long reign in the UK. Anyway, buy the album now from the store and check out www.myspace.com/spatheband for a full album preview. Spa will be touring Australia in April 2008. The album has just been released in Australia via Jb hifi or all digital stores including itunes - buy the physical copy for the cover we say! Go here for a direct link to itunes

The second release is a limited edition run of the Cuz ep 'Lo- Fi Life'. Again, years in the making, but worth the wait. Hear fully fledged epics such as 'A dream is just a dream' against the rawness of 'City boy'. You may remember Ronny Growler from his Serafin, Pash, Spa and Angels fight the City days, but who knew that the animal behind the drums was also a retro song writing and multi - instrumentalist genius. We've heard the new album as well and can't wait to get our hands on the finished product. Buy the ep now and checkout the Cuz website at www.cuz.net.nz for samples and videos.

Our 3rd and newest release is from Audiac. The Album has been figuratively 12 years in the making.

Melbourne based band Audiac were formed in Dunedin, New Zealand. Singer and guitarist Andrew Schraa moved to London and joined Spa and played in London with fellow NZ cohorts Ghost Club (ex 3ds).Andrew remained in London, producing other bands and working at the Premises Studio (home to Bloc Party, Rakes, the Horrors and Lily Allen).
Shortly before a permanent move to Melbourne in 2007, Andrew decided to resurrect Audiac.  He recorded what would become the basis of an Audiac album ‘No Come Down’ in London with Ronny growler and ben Ellis - ex-serafin members – featuring songs from the past and an array of new songs. The album was completed and mixed in Melbourne at St Kilda’s Hothouse studio.
Once in Melbourne, he found new band members to complete the Audiac line up through the medium of Myspace.
The new line-up adds Englishman Laurence Berry on bass and Australians and ex Planet Max members Nic Pallett on guitar and drummer Malcolm McMahon.
